Tofu and Thai-style sauce
Ingredients
1 cup firm tofu cut in 1 x 2 cm logs
olive oil
1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
Oil a skillet. Sautee the garlic on low-medium heat in 2 tablespoons of olive oil for 2 minutes. Stir constantly to prevent burning. When garlic is soft remove to a separate dish.
Place the logs in the skillet over medium heat. Roll them over every 2 minutes or so until all sides are golden brown.
Sauce:
Use store bought Thai sauce if you trust the ingredients and are in a hurry.
1/3 cup rice vinegar
2/3 cup water
1 teaspoon tomato paste
hot pepper sauce or hot chili sauce or chili garlic sauce to taste - usually about 1/4 -1/2 tsp.
1 tsp rice flour or cornflour to thicken.
Mix these ingredients along with the sauteed garlic in a saucepan. Bring to a boil until thickened (1 minute). Remove from heat. Add carrot.
Add salt to taste. If you like a sweeter Thai-style sauce add honey.
Pour sauce over Tofu logs.
Garnish with sesame seeds.
