Thai-style sauce
Ingredients
3 cloves garlic minced, sauteed until soft in olive oil
1/3 cup rice vinegar
2/3 cup water
1 tbsp minced ginger root
1 teaspoon tomato paste
hot pepper sauce or hot chili sauce or chili garlic sauce to taste - usually about 1/4 -1/2 tsp.
1 tsp rice flour or cornflour to thicken.
Mix these ingredients along with the sauteed garlic in a saucepan. Bring to a boil until thickened (1 minute). Remove from heat.
Add salt to taste. If you like a sweeter Thai-style sauce add honey.
Add 1/3 cup julienned carrot.
Sprinkle with chopped green onions.
